The building on Miyuki Street in the Aoyama District of Tokyo will be the cornerstone of the brand’s Japanese activities.
Since opening its first boutique in Aoyama in 1999, Miu Miu has maintained a significant presence in Japan and now has 23 boutiques across the country including nine in Tokyo alone.
This new building continues the company’s tradition of collaboration with world-class architects and re-emphasizes Miu Miu’s dedication to the Japanese market.
Miu Miu unveiled a new project with Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron. The 720m2 building on Miyuki Street in the Aoyama District of Tokyo will be the cornerstone of the brand’s Japanese activities. Prominent figures in the art, architecture, fashion and show business attended the exclusive cocktail reception held at the new space.
To mark the occasion, Miu Miu also held a Fashion show and Party in the Belle Salle in Shibuya.
The Miu Miu store’s most iconic elements were selected and placed like art objects in an exhibition around which the event takes place. With the intention to emphasize their design at a glance, the elements are exaggerated like pop art: scaled up, over-colored, produced of funny materials or simply used for a completely different purpose.
