Fashion designer Emanuel Ungaro died

Emanuel Ungaro, a French fashion designer of Italian descent, died at Paris at the age of 86.
The fashion house that bore his name was founded by Ungaro in 1965. Ungaro died on Saturday and faced health problems for two years. He was born in the south of France in Aix-en-Provence. His Italian father Cosimo was a tailor and Ungaro learned the craft. Later he went to Spain and studied under Spanish designer Cristóbal Balenciaga.
He came to Paris in 1956 and moved in the fashion world for almost 50 years until 2004, when he retired. At his first show, Ungaro presented only 17 models, but he was successful – he offered colorful colors and printed patterns. In 1973 he began designing for men.
He was dressed among others by US President Jackie Kennedy’s wife and actress Catherine Deneuve. His girlfriend, actress Anouk Aimée ,, helped him introduce a new Diva perfume brand.
