Taking theater and cinema as mirrors of reality, for the the Fall Winter 2022 Prada men’s show by Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons, the Deposito of the Fondazione Prada is reimagined by AMO as a stage for action. The casting includes Hollywood stars: Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Asa Butterfield, Jeff Goldblum – closed the Prada FW22 menswear show, Damson Idris, Kyle MacLachlan, Tom Mercier, Jaden Michael, Louis Partridge, Ashton Sanders and Filippo Scotti
Dignity is suggested for pragmatic clothing, uniforms rematerialized in precious leather and silk technique. These are associated with tailoring. Fashion methods are applied to knitwear, bomber jackets and parks. Clothes are an example of modernism, they serve to define shape and form. The body is emphasized, the shoulders and waist are sketched in the traditional way for everyday clothing. Through production, every garment is given equal importance – every aspect is important.
Designed by AMO, a bare concrete tunnel that blends with the materiality of the Fondazione Prada’s Deposito leads to the spacious olive gree-hued room where the Prada Fall Winter 2022 Menswear show takes place. Sci-fi-like tunnels of metal grating lit with neon light take the models into the large and soft showspace. Inside, olive green theatre chairs organized according to an orthogonal grid create a zig-zag runway space, as spotlights follow the models emphasizing the uncanny relationship between the theatrical and technological atmospheres.
